What is changing
The 0.0.7 release includes a large refactor of our metadata layouts and format. This is a backwards-incompatible change in the environment metadata: after upgrading, you will not be able to return to a previous version. See below for instructions on the upgrade process.
flox publish command flags have been renamed for clarity.
Two new commands have been added:
flox export and
flox import for exporting/importing a manifest of your environment metadata.
The release also includes several bug fixes and improvements to the overall stability of the app.
How to upgrade
You can always fetch the installer under “Install flox”. We recommend you follow instructions under “Update flox” to update to the latest version.
Once you’ve updated, run flox –version to make sure you are on 0.0.7.
flox upgrade. You will be prompted to upgrade, and when you select “Yes”, the old format will be converted to the new format.
If you have your environments stashed on GitHub or GitLab (you should!), you can
flox push to sync them.
If you run into any issues, please reach out on Discord or Discourse!
